Your dear mother, who senses that you do not have a boyfriend yet, encourages you to start being a little more girly, get long hair,or change the way you dress. As if doing any of these would automatically bring a boy, preferably an employed college graduate who shares similarities with you like being fond with the same type of music, has a sense of humor and artistic inclinations (not to mention he should have to be "chinito"), at your doorstep.
Okay, you are not actually demanding too much. Any boy whom you can spontaneously talk with on any subject under the sun or just simply be there to be your warm buddy, sing you a song during afternoons, or laugh with you as you watch cartoon flicks will do. You have a set standard.
For the meantime, you are looking for that someone at bus stops, classrooms, apartment buildings, and during chance encounters, fateful meetings, and serendipitous moments – everywhere.
